Insulation starts soon!

The first round of inspections by the building department all went well, so the walls are ready to be insulated and closed!  Yippee!

Just one of the many power tools hard at work.

The new fireplace mantle is ready to be installed.

Lots of nails...

And screws...

And even Liquid Nails have been used so far!

Mudroom Door

The mudroom door gets a new look.

The mudroom door (with lattice on either side) in it's original state.

This is what I want the portico to look like after the current lattice and overhang come down.

The mudroom door was moved about 2 feet so it would be centered in the room, allowing for cabinets and cubbies on either side of the room.  The new roof starts to take shape.

Slate and cooper are put on the roof.

New door, new portico and new siding.  Just need the columns and decking.

Our Current "Home"

Things have been moving along on Adams Street, and I'll post an update shortly.

Life's been a little different since we moved out of Elm Street and are currently living in a hotel.  We're still in Charlestown, so remain in Isabelle's school carpool, which has been nice.  I've warned the kids not to get too used to the hot breakfast buffet each morning with all sorts of food choices including Belgian waffles with caramel and chocolate toppings!

The hotel has an indoor pool and exercise room which they've enjoyed too and there is a large park with a dog field about 200 yards away.

We're staying at the Marriott Residence Inn on Tudor Wharf.  Although we have a full kitchen and living room, the hotel provides free food Monday-Wednesday nights so we've only been using the kitchen to store drinks, yogurt and fruit that we get at the breakfast buffet.

The pool is on the ground floor behind the window on the right and the exercise room is the window to the left. There is a nice long walk along the harbor that leads to the Navy Yard in one direction and Paul Revere Park in the other direction.  The dogs love their scenic daily walks!

The green hand rail in the lower left of this photo is on the bridge that leads to the North End and TD Garden (where the Bruins play, and had they made the playoffs we could have walked to the games in five minutes)!

Found a photo that shows the hotel from the side where you can clearly see TD Garden (building with the curved roof on the left), home of the Boston Bruins.  And to think next time they make the playoffs we have to DRIVE to the games!

Kitchen comes out

I was pleasantly surprised when I showed up at the house today to find that the kitchen cabinets were all ripped out and that the large terra-cotta tiles on the floor were being ripped up.

I thought that the kitchen was on hold for a while so was thrilled that we're moving forward with it.

The shower in the master bath is framed and covered with waterproofing and has two wall niches for shampoo and such.

Most of the new windows have been installed!  Yeah!
